Columbus and Franklin County Partners — Welcome to DV 101!

Campaign Overview

The Domestic Violence 101 Education Campaign is a yearlong, collaborative public education initiative led by the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, the Columbus City Attorney’s Office, and the Columbus Office of Violence Prevention. The campaign is designed to increase community understanding of domestic violence, strengthen prevention efforts, provide education of the court process and connect residents to resources that promote safety, accountability, and healing.

Throughout 2026, the campaign will deliver clear, accessible education on topics such as healthy relationships, teen dating violence, conflict resolution, bystander intervention, firearm risk, and survivor support, while also elevating data, community voices, and the real impacts of domestic violence across Columbus and Franklin County. Content will be paced intentionally across the year and aligned with national awareness months, local events, and policy priorities.

Each quarter of the campaign advances a distinct goal:

  • Q1 focuses on call to action, equipping young people, families, and the broader community with tools to recognize unhealthy dynamics and take action early.
  • Q2 emphasizes advocacy, using data and education to highlight who is most impacted by domestic violence and why prevention, policy change, and funding matter.
  • Q3 centers available funding, nonprofits, and community resources, uplifting organizations doing critical work with limited resources, and honoring lives lost to violence.
  • Q4 brings the campaign to a close through dialogue and accountability, including Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Domestic Violence Task Force’s Big Table, and a transparent look at year-to-date data and recommendations.

At its core, DV 101 is about shared responsibility. It reinforces that preventing domestic violence is not the work of one system alone, but requires collaboration across government, community organizations, advocates, and residents. Partners play a critical role by amplifying messages, connecting people to help, and standing with survivors as we work toward safer, healthier relationships and communities.

About DV 101

In the fall of 2025, the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, the Columbus City Attorney’s Office and the Columbus Office of Violence Prevention convened a Big Table conversation on domestic violence and released a Domestic Violence Community Perception Survey to gather input from residents. The message was consistent and clear: our community wants more practical education on how to recognize domestic violence, how to talk about it and how to connect people to help. As a result, these offices came together to create DV 101, a collaborative domestic violence public education initiative.
